A Nordic interdisciplinary workshop for professional performers (actors and dancers) 14-18th of May in Göteborg, Sweden.

How does movement gain life and the voice its release?  Elements of Action is an advanced workshop exploring the inner aspects of action. During the workshop the performers will devise physical and vocal materials through use of external stimuli, and create sequences of action. These sequences (scores) will be the basis for improvisational work aimed to explore and discover the very personal and inner aspects of the Action (subscore).

The workshop is facilitated by Vahid, artistic director of Goosun Art-illery (DK/UK) and is based on methods developed in the international research project HamletZar - a project that over the course of several years have gathered a wide range of artists from different places and practices, to explore the craftsmanship of performing arts and its socio-ethical relevance.

A course by choreographer/filmmaker Gunilla Heilborn and new media artist Mateusz Herczka!

This is a workshop that aims to provide participants with expertise in the use of audio and video in the artistic process.

"It's an intensive workshop with the aim to break down technological barriers and develop an expanding collection of conceptual and physical tools for today's digital filmmaking. We investigate how the Performing Arts toolkit can be applied to camera, sound and editing, using methods such as Robert Rodriguez Digital Storyboarding. We'll work with simple, mobile video technology that gives fast results and the work will presented and analyzed daily from both a technical and dramaturgical stand point with the entire group. The course is open both for those who want more guidance and those who want to explore their own ideas. Come prepared for film making!"

Copenhagen: Pre-Expressivity & Scenic Presence
@København (DK) / November-December 2012

Pre-Expressivity and Scenic Prescence is an advanced training course for performers to develop the most fundamental physical and vocal techniques of the performer. The point of departure in this workshop is the notion of pre-expressivity developed by Eugenio Barba at ISTA (International School of Theater Anthropology). Pre-expressivity is the central point of Theatre Anthropology that studies the scenic behavior of the performer in an organized performance situation. It scrutinizes the recurring principles of performer’s extra-daily techniques, which are common in all genres and styles.

The daily practical work at Pre-Expressivity and Scenic Presence workshop consists of:
•    Learning vocal and physical exercises
•    Creating materials and sequences of action
•    Making montage
•    Improvisation

This workshop is a collaboration between Goossun Art-illery (DK/UK), SJÁLFSTÆÐU LEIKHÚSIN (Association of Independent Theatre in Iceland) and Dansbyrån and is part of a nordic series of advanced workshops for performers.

In collaboration with Kultur Kraft Väst, Susan Klein herself will lead an advanced workshop in Klein Technique™ the 14-18 November, in Dansbyrån Sudio!

"The course will be a 20-hour intensive workshop where focus lies on a pivotal concept of Klein Technique™, moving from the deepest structural and energetic tissue of the body, the bone. We will explore the  functional anatomy of the muscles of deep structural support. (..) We will intellectually explain and physically work with these muscles in order to consciously learn to use these muscles to bring the bones into alignment and, in turn, bring the body into a place of connectedness.  This work leads to true power, strength and efficiency in movement.

In Klein Technique™ we look at the body as part of the living system of life and part of a systems approach to movement.  We believe that the body exists within our gravitational system of the floor and the space.  We do not exist in isolation, nor do we dance in isolation.  We exist and dance with the ground, the space, and each other. To do so, with efficiency, we need to be connected."
